About the Community Center
We have an exercise room available to residents. The cost is $10 a month per person or $25 a month for families. Hours of operation are from 6:30 am to 8 pm Monday through Saturday and from 8 am to 8 pm on Sundays. There is a variety of equipment to choose from for a daily workout. Come in and check it out.

If you are interested in renting the gymnasium or a meeting room, please call the Donegal Township Municipal Building at 724-484-4017. We recommend booking well ahead of your event to hold your date. We also have a PA system for rent if needed.

West Alexander Borough purchased the former West Alexander School Building in 2004. Initially, West Alexander Borough provided funding to cover all utilities and up-front improvement costs to create a presentable facility for our community. Since then, West Alexander and Donegal Township merged into one municipality in 2009. Additional improvements have been funded through grants, special events, rental of the gymnasium, and a solid funding base provided by Donegal Township.
In 2006, the entire lower level of the building was renovated and became the offices and warehouse of R G Sales, Inc. In 2014, R G Sales Inc. sold to Sterling Seal & Supply. In recent years, three classrooms have been renovated on the second floor, and are being used by the after-school program and a privately-operated pre-school program, Miss Danielle’s Pre-School. Another classroom was converted into two new restrooms, and an office into commercial rental space. The main floor of the building is occupied by Donegal Township, which includes the Secretary/Treasurer, Police Department, Township Supervisors, and two public meeting rooms.
Other updates include a refinished gym, floor, paint on all walls and ceiling, updated restrooms, tile floor in the second level hallway and restrooms, new windows and lentils and brick work, new security doors on the first floor, new key-card entry system for the township offices and classroom areas, repaired fire escape and emergency lighting, upgraded electrical for utility room, air conditioning and heating of the gym and other areas in the building, new basketball backboards, modern aluminum bleachers, and wall safety mats on the basketball court. The front parking lot underwent paving and line painting in 2013 at a cost of about $35,000. In November 2015, the exterior of the WACC underwent repairs and was also painted. In December 2015, there was a PA system installed in the gymnasium. February 2016, there were repairs made to the walls in the gymnasium and some painting was done. In late 2017, the roof was replaced on the gym.
